A Defect Management Platform for mobile devices

The challenge

Tucker-EMS wanted to combine a centralised defect management process with flexible app-based defect logging that could be used in areas with no internet access.

Our solution

The solution developed for Tucker-EMS is RFT-Cloud, consisting of an iOS app running on iPhone and iPad and a back-end web-based portal all serviced by a common API running on a cloud-based Azure platform.

The app allows engineers and electricians to carry out site visits in order to log, review, and rectify electrical defects as well as carry out formal site inspections. The app works in online or offline modes to facilitate visits to areas that have no internet or mobile network coverage. Defects may be stored locally on the devices for later synchonisation to the central database when a connection becomes available.

A web-based portal supports further aspects of the defect management and reporting process in addition to a comprehensive set of user and role features.
